
ROCKINGHAM — Helping the team off to a strong start, senior bowler Ashlyn Bouldin has been named the Official Richmond County Female Athlete of the Week presented by HWY 55.
The Richmond Senior High School girls’ bowling team opened its season last week and Bouldin was one of eight bowlers to guide the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 performance.
This is Bouldin’s second career recognition, also earning it during tennis season earlier this school year.

“KNOCKING DOWN THE PINS” WITH ASHLYN BOULDIN
Richmond started its quest to reclaim the Sandhills Athletic Conference title with a pair of wins in Aberdeen last Thursday. The Lady Raiders defeated both Southern Lee and Pinecrest high schools behind matching scores of 4-1.
Bouldin participated in all eight games bowled, serving primarily as the team’s No. 2 bowler ahead of anchor Cadence Thompson. In her 16 frames rolled, Bouldin had a team-high four strikes and added three spares.
With a closing percentage of 43.8%, Bouldin helped Richmond secure eight points and jump near the top of the SAC standings.
Against Southern Lee, Bouldin had two strikes in the first game and added another strike and a spare in the second game. She added one more spare in the third game.
In the team’s match against Pinecrest, Bouldin rolled a strike and a spare in the second game.
Richmond will get two more chances to add wins this week on Thursday against Hoke County and Union Pines. Bowling at Laurinburg Lanes, play will begin at 4 p.m.
