“SERVE’S UP” WITH ASHLYN BOULDIN
The Lady Raider tennis team played in just one match last week, traveling to Union Pines High School to continue Sandhills Athletic Conference play.
Although Richmond suffered a 3-6 defeat to the Lady Vikings, Bouldin was responsible for two of the Lady Raiders’ victories.
In singles play, Bouldin matched up against Saeda Yoxtheimer in the No. 6 competition. Seeing the score go back and forth, Bouldin emerged as an 8-6 winner, joining teammate Hanna Smith as the only two Lady Raiders to win their singles match.
Needing to sweep doubles play to earn the match victory, Bouldin and fellow first-year senior Savannah Jordan did their part in the No. 3 pairing.
Against Yoxtheimer and Kinsley Creel, Bouldin and Jordan rolled to an 8-3 victory. It was just their second time playing doubles together this season.
Looking to finish out the season with a pair of match victories, Richmond (4-6, 4-6 SAC) will play two more SAC matches this week.
Bouldin and her teammates will host Lee County on Wednesday for senior night and travel to Scotland on Thursday for the season finale. Both matches will begin at 4 p.m.
