ROCKINGHAM — All of Richmond Senior High School’s athletic events scheduled for Tuesday have been postponed due weather.

The announcement came via email from Ricky Young, the school’s athletic director, around 10:30 a.m. Widespread rain showers, coupled with colder temperatures, saw seven total varsity and junior varsity events pushed until later in the week.

Below is an updated schedule for the remainder of this week’s Sandhills Athletic Conference and non-conference matchups.

Wednesday, April 3:

The Lady Raider softball and baseball teams will travel to Lumberton High School on Wednesday to make-up Tuesday’s rain-out. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.

Young and the Raider baseball team are looking to stretch their winning streak to seven games, while the SAC leading Lady Raiders and head coach Wendy Wallace will square off against the second-place Lady Pirates and pitcher Morgan Britt.

The junior varsity baseball and softball teams will host the Pirates and Lady Pirates at home Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Chris Larsen and the Lady Raider soccer team, which has won its last six games, will make up its Tuesday game against Pinecrest on Wednesday at 7 p.m. It’s a matchup between the SAC leading Lady Patriots and second-place Lady Raiders. The JV team, which is also undefeated, will host Pinecrest at 5:15 p.m.

In tennis action, the Raiders will carry out their regularly scheduled match against Hoke County High School (4 p.m.). The boys’ tennis match from Tuesday at Jack Britt High School has yet to have a make-up day announced.

Thursday, April 4:

More wet weather slated for Friday has also seen most of its events pushed to Thursday. The Lady Raider softball program was supposed to play non-conference West Stanly High School at home Thursday, but those varsity and junior varsity games have been pushed to a date to be determined.

The softball and baseball games for Friday will now be played at home on Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. against Lumberton. In junior varsity action, the Raiders and Lady Raiders will travel to Lumberton and also play at 7 p.m.

The regularly scheduled track and field meet and tennis match will go on as scheduled Thursday. Patrick Hope’s tennis team will host Lumberton, and the boys’ and girls’ track teams will travel to New Century High School. Both are set for 4 p.m.

Friday, April 5:

At the time of this publication, the only Richmond sporting events left scheduled for Friday are the junior varsity and varsity soccer teams’ trip to Jack Britt. Per usual, the JV team will start at 5:15 p.m. followed by varsity at 7 p.m.
