Brown, Ingram lead Lady Red Rams past Cordova

HAMLET — The Hamlet Middle School girls’ basketball team earned a win over cross-county opponent Cordova Middle School on Monday.

Playing on their home court, the Lady Red Rams defeated the Lady Cavaliers 40-6.

Kimora Ingram and Olivia Brown scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to account for all of the Lady Red Rams’ points in the first half.

Both Brown and Ingram went on to share game high scoring honors with 16 points apiece.

Brown continued to be a big offensive presence throughout the game, while Ingram dominated the boards and collected 8 second-chance points.

Scoring three points each for Cordova were Egypt Bright and RahAsia Adams. 

Bright knocked down a three-pointer for the final basket of the game and Adams hit a jump shot and a free throw in the second quarter.

Carley Gulledge netted six points in the game for Hamlet. Two of her three baskets were layups following perfectly placed baseline passes from Brown. Gulledge also hauled in nine rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring for Hamlet was Dezyre Wilson with two points, which were scored off of a perfectly shot 10-foot jumper to start the second half.

With the win, Hamlet improved to 3-4 and will travel to Ellerbe Middle School on Thursday. Play will begin at 4 p.m.
