Facing Pinecrest and Hoke County high schools in last week’s doubleheader Sandhills Athletic Conference match, the Lady Raiders saw their seven-match winning streak to start the season come to an end.

Richmond fell by just 29 pins to Pinecrest in a final score of 594-565, before bouncing back to earn a 3.5-1.5 victory over Hoke County. In that match, the Lady Raiders added another point with the final score of 533-447.

Like she’s done for the last four seasons, Thompson served as the anchorpoint for the Lady Raiders. Across the two matches, she closed out 14-of-21 frames for a 67% closing percentage.

In each match, Thompson bowled three strikes to finish the day with a team-high six perfect rolls. She added four spares in each performance, tying her with teammate Ashlyn Bouldin for the team lead with eight pick-ups.

As the reigning SAC singles champion, Thompson’s efforts helped the Lady Raiders stay in the lead of the conference standings with 36.5 points and an 8-1 record.

The Lady Raiders will face Union Pines and Lee County high schools for another SAC match on Thursday in Laurinburg. The first of the two matches will start at 4 p.m.
