Champs: J.M. Currie & Sons wins Ellerbe fastpitch title

ELLERBE — Hardware was handed out to the J.M. Currie & Sons softball team following a perfect season.

The team wrapped up its championship season in the Ellerbe Parks and Rec fastpitch league with a victory over Cathy’s Clippers. The final score was 12-2 in four innings.

In the circle, Maci King pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in a pair of runs.

Lilly Hill went 1-for-1 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch, which resulted in her scoring all three times she was on base. As a team, nine of the 11 players scored at least once.

Addison Raines provided almost half of the offense in her 2-for-3 performance, driving in five RBI.

The J.M. Currie & Sons softball team was coached by Robert Cobler, D.J. King and Chris Williams.
