ROCKINGHAM — In addition to Friday being the Richmond Raider football team’s home opener, a lot of other activities will be going on around campus before and during the game.

The Richmond cheerleading program will host its annual cheer night, which is open to all cheerleaders who attended the program’s summer camp in July.

Throughout the game, those cheerleaders and the four Richmond County Schools middle school squads, will cheer alongside the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders on the sideline.

Prior to kickoff, the Richmond County Booster Club will host the first of its five pre-game football tailgates this season, a new initiative to involve community members.

The tailgate will be sponsored by Godfather’s Pizza and will allow pass holders to meet with players and coaches before the game.

Those wishing to attend must have their Raider Booster Club Pass for entry.

Kickoff between the Raiders and Butler High School is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on GoFan or at the gate (cash).
