“CHEERING ON THE RAIDERS” WITH CHEYENNE LEVINER

RSHS Academics: Just a few months away from graduating, Leviner is an honor roll student at Richmond. She’s enrolled in honors classes at the high school and has also taken courses at Richmond Community College.

This semester, Leviner is taking career management, show choir and math IV honors. She’s also taking principles of business management at RichmondCC, which is the career path she wants to take. Leviner currently has a 3.3 GPA.

“Senior year is going well,” Leviner said. “I’m doing well in all of my classes and I’m excited to graduate.”

Dance Sensations: An avid dancer, Leviner has been a part of Dance Sensations since she was three years old. Noting there are a lot of parallels between dancing and cheerleading, she said being good at one allows her to be successful at the other.

Leviner also helps teach some of the younger age groups at Dance Sensations.

Future Plans: After graduation, Leviner plans to attend RichmondCC for two years to get her associate’s degree. Following that, she hopes to transfer to a four-year college to finish getting her business degree.

“I want to own a dance and cheer studio,” Leviner said. “I want to do that because I’ve done both for so long, and I really enjoy both sports. I also love teaching kids and think that would be a fun career.”

RAPID RESPONSES WITH CHEYENNE LEVINER

ROSports: What about being a Richmond cheerleader is the most rewarding thing for you?

Leviner: “I enjoy bonding with the team, especially during the summer. We learn so much from each other when we are working together.

“I love to do all of the complicated and challenging stunts, and I really like being a part of the football and basketball games.”

ROSports: Describe the atmosphere this season in the gym as both basketball teams are in first place. What have you enjoyed the most about your senior cheer season?

Leviner: “It’s been very fun. There is a lot of tension with all of the close games we’ve had. No matter what, we are always cheering our hardest. I just try to be loud for the teams, and even go to away games so that I can cheer on the teams.

“The bus rides are always fun. We’re really connected as a team, and we enjoy being able to show the fans all that we can do. Overall, it’s been a really fun senior year.”

ROSports: How have you accepted the role as one of the team’s leaders this season? And what would you say is your leadership style to help the other members of the team?

Leviner: “In the beginning of the season with a new team, I just tried to give some of the newer back spots help when they needed it. It felt natural to be a leader and help others on the team.

“Most of the time I am fun and outgoing, but I can be strict, especially during stunting when we all have to do our jobs so no one gets hurt.”
