ROCKINGHAM — The gymnasium at Richmond Senior High School has started seeing some familiar faces return, as the Lady Raider basketball team has begun voluntary workouts.

Entering its second week of pre-season work, the Lady Raider basketball team and third-year head coach Teddy Moseley are reconvening for the first time since March.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released new guidelines on Tuesday, one of which allows teams to have up to 25 people working out indoors.

In this edition of Courtside Chats, senior forward Jakerra Covington makes an appearance with sports editor Kyle Pillar. In what will be her fourth season on the varsity team, Covington could barely contain her smile when she walked in the gym Wednesday for workouts.

As a senior this season, she is hoping to fulfill a leadership role with the Lady Raiders. Covington also talks about how workouts have been going, as well as what lessons she’s learned about her love for sports during the pandemic.
