ROCKINGHAM — For the second time in five tries this season, the Richmond Senior High School varsity football team will not play under Friday night lights.

Athletic director James Johnson informed the media a little after 2:20 p.m. Monday afternoon that the Raiders’ originally scheduled Sandhills Athletic Conference road game at Pinecrest High School had been rescheduled.

Citing the potential for wet weather, Johnson shared that Richmond (3-2, 1-0 SAC) and Pinecrest (4-0) will now play Thursday at 7 p.m. The game is still set to be played at Pinecrest.

Richmond head coach Brad Denson also posted the information on the Raider football team’s Facebook page around the same time.

Moving the game up a day marks the second time this season the Raiders have had to adjust their game day due to weather.

In Week 2, a rainout on Friday night pushed Richmond’s first home game of the season to Saturday against Butler High School.

The junior varsity football team (4-1, 1-0 SAC), which is on a four-game winning streak, will also bump its game up a day. The JV Raiders and JV Patriots will now play at Richmond Wednesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets to the varsity game at Pinecrest, which are $10 apiece, can be purchased on GoFan.

For the JV game, tickets are also $10 and can be bought online or at the gate.

The Richmond Observer will publish any additional details for both games as they’re made available. A preview article will be published ahead of the varsity game’s kickoff.
