“DOUBLE DUTY” WITH ELLA MUNN
Competing on back-to-back days last Monday and Tuesday, Munn had her best outing on the golf course in her high school career. She followed that with a run during a cross country meet that fueled a win for Richmond.
Last Monday at Sanford Golf Course, Munn posted a career-low nine-hole score of 53 on the front nine of the course.
Through three matches this season, Munn has lowered her shot total by four strokes. She is averaging 54.7 strokes per nine holes and is hoping to qualify for the regional tournament.
A day later, Munn shifted gears with the cross country team and completed the 3.2-mile race with her fastest time this season.
Running at Dragon Park in Laurinburg, she took seventh place overall and was the third Lady Raider on the team to finish the race. Earning seven points, Munn also helped Richmond win its second meet in three tries.
Clocking in at 24:55, Munn took 12 seconds off her race time from the week prior. She was within range of breaking her personal record of 24:39, which she set at Southern Lee High School as a sophomore.
The golf team is off this week. Munn and the Lady Raider cross country team will run at Hinson Lake in Rockingham on Tuesday, beginning at 5 p.m.
