ROCKINGHAM — Lighting up the scoreboard to start Sandhills Athletic Conference play has named Emoni McBride the Official Richmond County Male Athlete of the Week, presented by HWY 55.
Finding the end zone through the air and on the ground, McBride put up several personal best numbers during the Raiders 38-10 rout of Southern Lee High School. It was the team’s second win in as many weeks.

“IN THE END ZONE” WITH EMONI McBRIDE
Registering three total touchdowns in the win over the Cavaliers, a single-game career-high, McBride found open lanes to his receivers and used his legs to start the game’s scoring.
Following a fumble on the Cavaliers’ first play of the game, McBride capped a three-play drive with a 5-yard rushing score on a read-option. He finished the game with 47 rushing yards on four carries.
That was followed by the first of his two passing touchdowns, which McBride set up by collecting gains of 31 and 16 yards on the ground. Finding junior wide receiver Jada Zimmerman over the middle for a 9-yard score, the Raiders went up 17-3.
With the Raiders leading 24-10 early in the third quarter, McBride connected with sophomore wideout Raymond Knotts for a 27-yard catch in the back of the end zone.
McBride finished the game 9-of-18 passing with a career-high 138 passing yards. He threw completions to six different receivers and collected five first downs through the air. McBride’s longest pass of the game went to sophomore Travion Smith for 33 yards.
Richmond (2-3, 1-0 SAC) will continue Sandhills Athletic Conference play at Pinecrest (2-2, 0-0 SAC) on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
