ROCKINGHAM — Head coach Teddy Moseley said the game plan Wednesday was to start fast and build an early lead.

After “starting flat” Tuesday, Moseley said the Lady Raider basketball team did a better job at home against Pine Forest High School.

Using a game-high 28 points from junior point guard Jamyia Lindsey, the Lady Raiders earned a 54-21 non-conference victory and extended their winning streak to six games.

Seven other Lady Raiders scored in the win, including senior Ryelan Lyerly and sophomore Jasiah Gilchrist (six points each).

Senior MaKailah Jackson and freshman Madisen Jackson both had four points and senior Jamia Crowder, junior Rena Drake and sophomore J’Nasia Neal all chipped in two points.

A 19-3 run by Richmond in the first quarter sealed the deal early on. Lindsey scored six of her 14 first-half points on a trio of field goals.

Lyerly did all of her scoring in the first frame from beyond the arc, splashing down a pair of triples from opposite corners. MaKailah Jackson completed her scoring with a pair of shots from under the hoop.

A free throw and a basket from Gilchrist put Richmond ahead by 16 points entering the second quarter.

The Lady Raiders’ defensive pressure held the Lady Trojans (7-8) to just one point in the second period, a free throw by Jaliyah Carter.

Adding 24 points, Richmond opened its lead to 33-4 at halftime.

Lindsey scored eight more points on two baskets and four free throws. She finished the game 8-for-8 from the line.

The Lady Raiders led by as many as 33 points, once in the third and once in the fourth quarter. Both teams scored 11 points in the third.

A trio of field goals from Lindsey was coupled with two more free throws. Drake knocked down a pair from the line and Madisen Jackson rounded out her scoring with a free throw.

Up 44-15 to start the fourth, Richmond closed on a 10-6 run. Lindsey had her final six points on two baskets and two more free throws.

Gilchrist made both of her attempts at the line and Crowder netted the team’s final basket in the closing minute.

Pine Forest was led by Chloe Wilson’s nine points. Two other players had four points for the Lady Trojans.

The Lady Raiders (13-4, 5-0 SAC) have a pivotal meeting at Scotland High School (10-1, 3-0 SAC) Tuesday. The game, which will begin at 6 p.m., will determine the first-place team in the standings.
