ROCKINGHAM — High-horsepower cars will be zooming down the strip at Rockingham Dragway this weekend as DuckX Productions brings Battle of the Thrones to Civil Wars.

During a March video interview with Tourism Director Meghan Lambeth, promoter Donald “Duck” Long said the event will feature “flying” cars boasting 3,000-5,000 horsepower — with no wheelie bars, or as Long called them, “sissy sticks” — topping 200 mph.

“We don’t need any of that,” Long said. “Our guys and girls out there, they know what they’ve got going on.”

Class winners will be crowned and receive gold thrones: “the baddest trophy you could ever win as a drag racer.”

“If you’ve never seen a DuckX Productions event, you’ve got to come out here,”Long said. “Civil Wars has been here for a long time, on and off. We wanted to jump in with those guys and make it a special event … come out here and do something really cool.”

DuckX Productions usually holds events at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

Testing started at 10 a.m. Thursday, with qualifying for Battle of the Thrones to run from 6 p.m.-midnight. The schedule is the same for Friday.
