ROCKINGHAM — Born of a single event in south Louisiana in 2001, the M&H Tires Import Face Off series, which returns this Saturday (Aug. 13) to Rockingham Dragway, has become the nation’s largest touring import series with 40 events in 20 states from Florida to Oregon and California to New York.

More festival than drag race, Import Face Off features contests, exhibitions, unique food and beverage vendors, music and live DJs as well as straight-line competition on the quarter mile and instant green, no scoreboard grudge racing. It pays out more than $250,000 in cash, trophies and other prizes each year.

This week’s tour stop, second of the year at The Rock, is one of just eight upgraded Street Legends events with a nighttime program that includes burnout, low car limbo and crank-it-up stereo contests, among other attractions. Spectator gates open at 7 p.m. with activities continuing until midnight.

Adult admission is $30. Children 10 and under are free with a ticketed adult and, as always, parking is free in Rockingham’s main lot.
