ROCKINGHAM — Serving a big role in Richmond’s trip to Tennessee, junior basketball player Jamarion Wall has been named the Official Richmond County Male Athlete of the Week presented by HWY 55.
A three-game week, including two contests in Knoxville, Tenn., saw the Richmond Raiders add a pair of victories to their season total. In the process, Wall added depth from the bench and notched a new single-game career high in points.

“ON THE PERIMETER” WITH JAMARION WALL
The Raiders opened Sandhills Athletic Conference play last week with a win over Southern Lee High School, before splitting a pair of games at the 5Star Preps Hoop Jam in Knoxville.
Against the Cavaliers, the Raiders earned a 98-53 win. Wall scored five points in the victory, hitting a three-pointer and a jumper in the fourth quarter. He also had three rebounds.
Heading west, the Raiders played a pair of games in the 5Star Preps Hoop Jam at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on Friday and Saturday.
Although the Raiders led after each of the first three quarters, they fell 71-67 to Knoxville Catholic High School in their opener. Wall also registered five points in that game, knocking down another triple and a bucket.
A day later, Richmond cruised past Lebanon High School 80-53 behind Wall’s career-high 26 points. Shooting 11-of-16 from the field (69%), Wall landed four of Richmond’s 14 three-pointers.
Wall started his day with five points in the first half, scoring a triple in the first quarter and a bucket in the second. He added six more points on three field goals in the third.
Taking over the fourth quarter, Wall led the way with his final 15 points. He drained a trio of triples and found the basket for three more field goals.
Through 10 games this season, Wall is averaging 7.8 points per game. His previous career-high of 22 points was scored during his freshman season against Hoke County.
Richmond (8-2, 1-0 SAC) will return to play at home on Jan. 3 against Hoke County High School (2-6, 1-1 SAC). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
