“ON THE PITCH” WITH JAMES EASON

The Richmond boys’ soccer team opened its season with a pair of road matches last week. Despite not finding the win column, head coach Chris Larsen said he was impressed by the Raiders and Eason’s play.

Richmond fell 1-0 to Montgomery Central and finished in a 1-1 tie against Forest Hills.

Eason proved to score the Raiders’ lone goal in its opening two matches, having several other chances on net against the Yellow Jackets. In the 59th minute, Eason erased a one-goal deficit by finding the net on a scrum inside the box.

A bouncing ball on an attack into the box found Eason, who collected it and beat the keeper for his first goal of the season.

The Raiders and Eason will play another home game on Wednesday against non-conference Purnell Swett. In search of its first win, Richmond will begin play at 6 p.m.
