“CAREER HIGH” WITH JASIAH GILCHRIST

The Lady Raiders have won three straight games over SAC teams with a running clock, including last week’s victories over Pinecrest and Hoke County high schools.

Starting with a 74-35 win on the road at Pinecrest, Gilchrist scored 21 points and had eight steals, four assists and three rebounds.

She scored 13 points in the first half before adding nine points in the final two quarters. Gilchrist knocked down one three-pointer as well, and her eight takeaways led the team.

Three nights later on her home floor, Gilchrist recorded a career-high 27 points in a 73-12 rout of Hoke County. Nine points in the first quarter was followed by 12 points in the second stanza to give her 21 points at the break.

Using her ability to force turnovers, many of Gilchrist’s points were a result of transition buckets off steals. Her final six points came in the second half.

Against the Lady Bucks, Gilchrist also had five steals, four assists and three boards.

Through 21 games this season, Gilchrist is the team leader with 5.2 steals per game. She’s second for Richmond in points per game (13.9) and assists per game (2.0).
