“GETTING BUCKETS” WITH JAVIAN DRAKE

Richmond played a trio of non-conference games last week, earning wins against Jack Britt High School and Trinity Christian School. Improving to 3-1 on the season, Drake proved to be a consistent scorer for the Raiders.

Averaging 14 points through the three games, Drake was Richmond’s leading scorer against the Buccaneers in a 75-47 win. He scored 12 points in the win, netting six points in each half. He started the game with two points in the first quarter.

Drake followed with a pair of field goals in the second stanza and was part of a runaway third quarter for Richmond with his final six points. He scored all of those points on field goals.

During Saturday’s 69-54 win over Trinity in the Hoop & Dreams Showcase, Drake reached double figures for the fourth time in four games this season. He was second on the team with 14 points, just behind teammate Jullien Cole (16 points).

Netting eight points on field goals, Drake added a pair of three-pointers in the win. He also notched three rebounds and two assists in the victory.

Despite Richmond falling short to Myers Park High School, Drake was Richmond’s leading scorer with 16 points against the top-ranked Mustangs. That was a season-high scoring performance for Drake.

The Raiders will play three more non-conference games this week, starting with a home game on Tuesday against Northern Guilford High School (1-0), set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
