“HOLDING THE LINE” WITH JENNA GARDNER

As the regular season continues to draw to a close for Richmond, the team sits in fourth place of the SAC standings.

Last week, the Lady Raiders fell short to Union Pines 3-2 in a five-set heartbreaker and bounced back a night later with a 3-0 sweep of Lee County.

At home on Wednesday, Richmond jumped ahead 2-0 against Union Pines. But a shift in momentum saw the Lady Vikings take the final three sets.

In that match, Gardner had one ace and 14 digs. She also had a 100 percent serving percentage.

Traveling on Thursday, the Lady Raiders responded with a quick three-set win over Lee County. Gardner continued her helpful play in the back row by contributing 11 digs.

Offensively, she registered one kill and added a trio of aces from the serving line to help the team. Her serving percentage was also perfect.

Through 19 matches this season, Gardner has accumulated 138 digs, 31 aces, a 96 percent clip from the serving line and has added eight kills from the back row.

Richmond (9-10, 6-5 SAC) will close its season on Thursday with senior night against Scotland (12-6, 7-3 SAC). The celebration of seniors will be held before play begins at 6 p.m.
