“ON THE COURT”  WITH JORDAN JACOBS

The Raider tennis team competed in three Sandhills Athletic Conference matches last week, taking victories in two of them. Richmond defeated Hoke County and Lee County high schools 9-0, and lost a close match, 5-4, to Union Pines High School.

Jacobs was a winner in all three of his singles matches against each team’s top-seeded player. In No. 1 doubles, along with teammates Matthew Leggett and Will Whitley, Jacobs picked up two of his three doubles contests.

Starting the week against Lee County Tuesday, Jacobs defeated Finley Benton 6-2, 6-4 in a best-of-three match. Paired with Leggett, the duo handed Benton and Nathan Jones an 8-1 defeat in doubles.

A day later, Jacobs and the Raiders made quick work at home against Hoke County. Facing Iber De La Cruz, Jacobs notched an 8-0 win, one of three singles shutouts in the match by the team.
