PINEHURST — The high school girls’ golf season came to a close for two Lady Raider golfers on Monday.

Members from around the Sandhills Athletic Conference converged on Pinehurst No. 6 to compete in the final 18-hole match of the season.

Representing Richmond were sophomores Jacey McRae and Ella Munn, who finished their first and second respective seasons on the team.

Munn, who has missed the past two matches, returned to play to lead the team with a final posting of 132. She shot a 66 on the front and mirrored that score on the back nine.

McRae wrapped up her final of three consecutive 18-hole rounds since joining the team midseason. She ended the day with a 140, shooting a 69 and a 71.

“Ella did well in her first 18-hole match of the season, and I know she feels as if she left some shots on the course. That should carry her through the off-season as she prepares for next fall,” head coach Keith Parsons said.

“And Jacey continued to impress in her first season playing. Both of them seem excited about golf, so I expect them to be even better next year as juniors.”

This season, Munn competed in four matches and averaged a nine-hole score of 63.8 strokes. McRae also golfed four times and averaged 69.6 strokes per nine holes.

Pinecrest High School completed its perfect season by winning its sixth match as a team this fall. The Lady Patriots shot a combined score of 227 (+11) on Monday, with Camilah Porras’ 75 (+3) leading the field.

Neither Richmond golfer qualified for this year’s North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A regional tournament.
