FAYETTEVILLE — Momentum from a comeback win on Tuesday carried over into Wednesday’s match, but the Lady Raider volleyball team couldn’t maintain an early lead.

Taking a break from Sandhills Athletic Conference play, Richmond and head coach Ashleigh Larsen traveled to non-conference Pine Forest High School.

The match was deemed the “Norton Strong Game,” played in memory of Jason Norton, a longtime coach and athletic director involved with both schools.

Richmond would win the first set 25-21 before dropping the next three frames by scores of 17-25, 26-28 and 20-25 to the Lady Trojans (9-7).

“The girls didn’t play terribly tonight,” Larsen said. “But we did not have the same drive and energy throughout the entire match as we did last night (against Scotland).

“Once we find that energy, we need to be able to feed off of it,” she added.

Richmond (7-8, 3-3 SAC) will close a three-match week with a home contest on Thursday.

Starting the second round of conference play, the Lady Raiders will play Southern Lee High School (5-8, 0-6 SAC), starting at 6:15 p.m.
