ROCKINGHAM — Extending its season-long winning streak to four games on Tuesday, the Lady Raider softball team defeated Lee County High School.

Completing the regular-season series with the Lady Yellow Jackets, Richmond rolled to a 10-2 win. It was the second time in as many nights the Lady Raiders defeated Lee County.

Spreading nine hits across six players, the Lady Raiders were led at the plate by junior catcher Macy Steen. She was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three runs scored and one run batted in.

Sophomore Ryelan Lyerly added two hits and a run driven in, and seniors Allyiah Swiney and Kenleigh Frye, along with junior Makayla Parks, all had one hit and one RBI.

Junior Quston Leviner recorded one RBI, and sophomore Katie Way’s hit went for two bases.

Head coach Mike Way gave Parks her first start of the season in the circle, and after allowing two runs in the first inning, she settled in and threw three scoreless innings. In her four innings of work, Parks struck out six batters and gave up five hits.

Leviner tossed three innings of shutout relief a night after throwing a five-inning no-hitter. She gave up two hits and recorded six strikeouts.

Lee County (0-5, 0-5 SAC) took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first. An RBI single and ground out to Frye at second plated the two runs.

Richmond responded with four runs in the home half of the first. Swiney and Frye drew walks and scored on a passed ball and wild pitch, respectively.

A sac bunt by Leviner scored Parks (hit-by-pitch) and the final run came on a dropped third strike, allowing Steen (double) to score.

The Lady Raiders added two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead. An RBI triple from Steen to the left field corner scored Way (double) and a wild pitch in the next at-bat allowed Steen to cross home.

Three consecutive one-out RBI singles from Swiney, Frye and Parks in the bottom of the fourth made it a 9-2 advantage.

Capping the win was an RBI base knock by Lyerly in the home half of the fifth. She laced a single to right, bringing in Steen, who singled to lead off the inning.

Swiney and Frye both scored two runs for Richmond in the win.

Next up for the Lady Raiders (7-1, 4-1 SAC) is a road trip to non-conference Western Harnett High School (4-4) on Thursday. Varsity will begin at 6 p.m.
