LAURINBURG – If anything can be said about the Richmond Senior High School Lady Raiders golf team, it’s that its consistent.

Hitting the links at Scotch Meadows Country Club Monday, the Lady Raiders finished third for the third consecutive match, falling in the middle of the pack of the Sandhills Athletic Conference meeting.

Pinecrest High School, which has been the SAC team-to-beat, finished first, while Jack Britt High School took its usual place in second.

Richmond sophomore Hailey Miller and junior Natalie Davis had their best two scores of the season, shooting 89 and 93, respectively. Rounding out Richmond’s participants Monday were Dakota Stephens, Kylie McDonald, Taylor Graves and Gabby Paone.

Head coach Jeff Ingram spoke about the team’s performance and looked ahead to the upcoming regional tournament.

“We were short of a 400 score, having a total of 406,” Ingram noted. “Our top two had really good scores, and were just a few holes short of really great scores. I expect Hailey and Natalie to play at the Regional tournament.”

The team may have a makeup tournament Thursday (from an earlier cancelled match this season). But they will play next Monday in Pinehurst, as it is the final conference tournament before the regional tournament. The match is set for 2 p.m.
