Lady Raiders Golf Team Takes 3rd Place at Pinecrest Country Club

The Lady Raiders golf team finished in third place in Monday's SAC-8 match at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton.

LUMBERTON, N.C. – The Richmond Senior High School Lady Raiders golf team was in action Monday in its second match of the 2017 season at Pincrest Country Club in Lumberton. Richmond finished the SAC-8 tournament third out of the eight teams present.

As members of the Sandhills Athletic Conference, the Lady Raiders faced off against such opponents as Scotland, Pinecrest, Jack Britt, Lumberton, Purnell Swett, Seventy-First, and Hoke County high schools. Lumberton served as the host, and the Lady Raiders can expect to see a lot of these schools throughout the course of the season.  

Junior Natalie Davis was the top Lady Raider golfer, as she finished the 18-hole affair with a team-best 94. Fellow junior Kylie McDonald finished not too far behind her with a 96. Other Lady Raider golfers who participated were Hailey Miller, Dakota Stephens, Taylor Graves and Gabby Paone.

“I am happy with a third-place finish in this conference tournament,” head coach Jeff Ingram said. “It is a tough conference in general, plus Pinecrest and Jack Britt are very hard to beat. So third place for us is a great finish.”

Pinecrest took first place, followed by Jack Britt in the second spot. Tying with Richmond in third place was Seventy-First, followed by Hoke (4th place), Lumberton (5th place), Scotland (6th place) and Purnell Swett closed the scoring in seventh place.

The Lady Raiders golf team will return to the course Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Deercroft Golf Club. Richmond will serve as the host for another SAC-8 tournament with the initial tee time set for 2 p.m. Deercroft Golf Club is located at 30000 Deercroft Drive, Wagram, N.C.
