“TOP 10”  WITH LANDON SUMMERLIN

Although the Richmond Raider bowling team didn’t qualify for the team state championship meet, Summerlin punched his ticket with a fourth-place finish at the Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament a week prior.

Competing against dozens of the top bowlers from around the state, Summerlin finished 10th overall at the state championship meet. Landing in the top-10 secured him a spot on the 2023-24 All-State roster.

All individual bowlers rolled three games and the combined total of those games were added up. Summerlin, who got better as the event progressed, bowled game scores of 191, 203 and 212.

Tallying a final score of 606, Summerlin rounded out the list of the top-10 bowlers in the state.

In his first game, he rolled five total strikes (in the second, fifth, and seventh through ninth frames). He also had two spares in the second and 10th frames, closing 8-of-11 frames (67%).

He followed that with a 9-for-11 mark in the second game for an .820 closing percentage. He tallied strikes in the second, fourth through seventh, and the final frame for six total. He also picked up three helpers.
