GIBSONVILLE, N.C. — Back in action for another weekend of competition, the Real Wrestlers Real Heroes Wrestling Club participated in the Eastside Showdown 2 at Eastern Guilford High School on Saturday.

The top finishers for the Richmond County-based wrestling team were Trevon Drake and Gregory Estridge, both of whom took first place in their respective weight classes. Drake won the high school heavyweight bracket, while Estridge topped the bantom 75-pound class.

The team also had one second-place finisher and a trio of third-place results.

Isaac Nunley was the lone wrestler to take second overall, placing in the elementary 135-pound division.

In third place were Alijah Goodwin (elementary, 65-pounds), Adam Estridge (high school, 152-pounds) and Mary Williams (girls, 185-pounds).

“Only eight wrestlers competed this weekend with the schools being on Easter break,” head coach Earl Nicholson said. “But the team competed hard and showed a lot of commitment traveling to Randleman to practice with another club on Thursday.”

The next practice for RWRH will be Sunday, April 25, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Richmond County Ninth Grade Academy.

“We are still doing sign-ups and we looking to get more wrestlers from the Richmond County high school and middle school teams out,” Nicholson shared. “If interested, please contact me of Facebook messenger or at coachni2@gmail.com.”
