CHARLOTTE — Heading into the third round of the Wells Fargo CHampionship at Quail Hollow Club, Xander Schauffele held a commanding four-stroke lead.
Saturday, Rory McIlroy cut into the deficit to set up a repeat heading into the final round.
Schauffele, who shot -1 on Saturday, holds a one-stroke lead over Mcilroy who shot a strong -4 round.

McIlroy’s Saturday round of -4 was tied for the low round of the day on a Saturday which played tougher than the previous two rounds for the majority of the field.
Sunday’s final round pairing will find Schauffele yet again playing in the final group of the day as last year when he was paired with eventual winner Wyndham Clark.
To this point Schauffele has led in each of the first three rounds. Sunday will be a test for Schauffele as he has not won a PGA event since 2022, which was a highlight year for him carding three wins in that one season alone.
