PINEHURST — Kim Moore, of Portage, Michigan, held the overnight lead heading into day two of the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open.

Moore’s opening round score of 76 helped her secure a comfortable 4-stroke lead heading into Tuesday’s second round.

Moore is playing in the Leg Impairment category.

When asked about expectations heading into the second round, Moore replied, “I’m just trying to go out there and do the same thing as yesterday.”

Though not exactly shooting the same score as the first round, Moore did manage to maintain her 4-shot advantage throughout the day and make a clutch up and down par out of an extremely long bunker shot on the 18th to finish strong with a sand save par finish.

Moore, who is the head women’s golf coach at Western Michigan University, shot a front nine 39 and back nine 41 to maintain her lead from day one heading into the final round Wednesday.
