WADESBORO — The Richmond County middle school golf season concluded with two matches last week.
Boy and girl golfers from the district’s four middle schools played a final regular-season match followed by an in-county conference championship at Twin Valley Golf Club.
The same trio of golfers who took the top three spots in the first two matches of the season would also take the top three spots, respectively, in the conference title.
Hamlet Middle School’s Kevin Tabacolde placed first in the championship, shooting a 40 (+3) on the par 37 front nine of the course. Tabacolde finished first in all four matches, and his score in the championship was a season low.
The next two golfers to finish the season in the top three were Rockingham Middle School’s Landon Summerlin and C.J. Turner, who took second and third, respectively.
Summerlin shot a 49 during the championship, followed closely by Turner’s score of 52. Summerlin and Turner each finished second and third in all of the season’s matches.
During Monday’s regular-season finale, Rockingham’s Tess Bryant tied Turner for third place, having also shot a 57 ahead of the championship round.
