WADESBORO – The Rockingham Middle School Lady Rocket volleyball team continued its regular season tear Wednesday on the road at Anson Middle School.

Entering the double-header match, Teresa Mason’s Lady Rockets were 7-1 on the season, sweeping every opponent except one. The lone loss had come to Anson Middle School’s Blue team, as the school has two volleyball squads, with Rockingham taking the other match during the competition.

Rockingham took care of business against the Anson Orange Wednesday, picking up its fourth double-header sweep in five tries. Both matches were taken in two quick sets by the Lady Rockets, the first coming in 25-16 and 25-17 fashion. The second match was similar in scores, this time going 25-17 and 25-16.

Just like she has for the majority of Rockingham’s matches this fall, eighth grader Catherine Dennis led the way in points scored with 29. Four other Lady Rockets reached double digits in points coming by way of Allie Rodgers (20 points), Joy Styles (17 points), Edriana Davis (16 points), and Keyoni Nichols (11 points). Another player Mason noted for her play was Kenleigh Locklear, who tallied seven points in the win.
