ROCKINGHAM — Motorsport 4the Masses returns to the Little Rock this weekend for its first of six events scheduled at Rockingham Speedway.

The organization will hold its Short Course Drivers Education on Saturday, followed by a test and tune Sunday the Classic American Racing Barnstormer Series.

“The event we are doing Saturday is designed for amateurs in their normal cars,” said M4theM owner Rob Bolling.

He added that there are still spaces available for anyone interested in giving it a try, with registration open until 6:30 p.m. Friday. There were 41 drivers signed up late Thursday night.

“As long as the car is not a rollover risk… it is probably eligible to participate as long as it’s in good shape and has good tires,” Bolling said. “It is an entry-level drivers education event.”

According to M4theM, the Little Rock was voted the drivers’ favorite track last year.

The M4theM website describes the course as similar to autocross:

“In SCDE drivers run timed sessions of flying laps and point-by overtaking is allowed.

Another big difference from autocross is you are scheduled for a total of 40 minutes of track time per half-day session instead of 4 to 6 minutes stretched out over a whole day. If you are an iron man, (or woman) you can do an all-day entry and get 1 hour and 20 minutes of track time.”

Sunday will feature stock cars from various decades zooming around the track in preparation for the CARBS Tour kickoff on April 23.

Bolling said Thursday that nine drivers had signed up for the practice.

When announcing the season schedule, Bolling said the CARBS events will include practice laps, qualifying and an exhibition race for what he called “a living history experience.”

M4theM provided a sneak peek of what to expect during the speedway’s open house on March 5.

That event included two dozen cars — and one truck — ranging from the Cotton Owens No. 70 ‘37 Plymouth Coupe to the 2017 No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion formerly driven by Brad Kesolowski.

One of the drivers, Rob Hindt, of Elkton, Maryland, won the FasCarz series race last October during the East Coast Truck Festival, becoming the first to win in a stock car at Rockingham since the track opened back.

The CARBS Tour will also close out at Rockingham on Oct. 1.

M4theM was responsible for leading attendees in hot laps around the oval during the open house and an event last summer. Also during the open house, M4theM manned the track for the Allison Legacy Series race on the road course.

M4theM has additional events scheduled for May 21-22, Aug. 6-7 and Nov. 12-13.

Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday for the SCDE and spectating is free. Sunday’s event runs from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and tickets are $10, limited to the first 100 spectators.
