FOXFIRE VILLAGE — Golfers from around the Sandhills Athletic Conference met for the second match of the season at Foxfire Golf Club on Monday.

Richmond Senior High School was represented by sophomore Ella Munn during the nine-hole match on the Lady Raiders’ home course.

Also competing were members of the other SAC schools which have teams this fall — Pinecrest, Union Pines, Scotland and Lee County.

Posting a score of 64, Munn added two strokes from her first match on what head coach Keith Parsons said proved to be a difficult course.

“Another solid day for Ella on a difficult course,” Parsons said. “Foxfire played long and difficult, with tall rough and tight fairways.

“Her putting continued to be useful, and her driver was solid, as well,” he added.

Due to not having at least three golfers participating, Richmond didn’t qualify for the team score. Munn is participating this season to try and qualify for the individual regional tournament.

Pinecrest won its second straight match with a combined score of 109 from its top golfers. Julia Herzberg and B.B. Rujiranan led the field with a 36.

Union Pines came in second place (142), followed by Lee County (145) and Scotland (183).

The third SAC golf match of the season will be held next Monday at Sanford Golf Course, the final nine-hole contest before full rounds begin. Munn will tee off at 3 p.m.
