ROCKINGHAM — A local youth travel football program is looking to grow its numbers for the upcoming season.

Raider Elite Youth Football, which started in 2020, is the only travel tackle football program in Richmond County.

An open workout will be held at Richmond Senior High School Thursday for players ages five to 12. The workout will be held on the school’s practice fields and begin at 6 p.m.

Raider Elite has fielded several championship-winning teams the last several years under the leadership of former director John Carter.

The program, which is currently the only in-county development pipeline to the Richmond Raider program, is looking for players for its 6U, 8U, 10U and 12U teams.

Last month, Derrick Watkins was announced as the program’s new director. Coaches are also needed for the upcoming season.
