Paschal repeats as Powerfest champion in Top ET at Rockingham Dragway

ROCKINGHAM — McLeansville’s T.G. Paschal waited out the weather and won the Top ET title Sunday in a rain-shortened Yuengling Beer Carolina Powerfest 9 at Rockingham Dragway.

Paschal, a 2020 Powerfest winner and the 2018 Carolina Coalition Series Champion, beat Shawn Carpenter in the final and taking down 2020 Rockingham Jr. Dragster track champion Hayden Dial of Lumberton two rounds earlier. Paschal’s .010 final round reaction time forced Carpenter into a breakout foul. The Elm City driver missed his target by .002 of a second.

The other winners were Clayton’s Tucker Creech, who edged Jonathan Surratt of Alexis by .016 of a second, in the Footbrake final, and Gavin Whisnant of Dallas, who grabbed the Jr. Dragster title when final round opponent Nickole Cayton-Dabney of Troy, Virginia, also committed a breakout foul.
