ROCKINGHAM — Hundreds of drivers pushed their cars to the limit this weekend at Rockingham Dragway for the 25th Annual “Big John” Memorial Bracket Championships.
The event, which fielded more than 300 cars (and a few trucks), is usually held Memorial Day weekend, but had to be rescheduled this year because of rain. It is named in honor of the late “Big John” Leviner, one of Rockingham’s most popular officials
The bracket race includes showdowns in three main classes with purses of $10,000 for Top ET, $2,000 for Footbrake and $500 on the line for each Saturday and Sunday.
Dragway co-owner Dan Van Horn said Carolina Class Racers Association joined this weekend’s event.
Points will be listed on the dragway’s website.
