ROCKINGHAM — The CRS Super Truck Series returned to Rockingham Speedway Sept. 24 for the series’ National Invitational.

Seven trucks started the race for $200 and a shot at the $2,000 purse.

The event was a double-header with the FASS Big Rig Series. Both organizations also fielded drivers at Rockingham in October 2021.

Drivers rounded the oval for two sets of 15 laps.

Larry Wilcox in the No. 67 bowed in during the first set, and the engine blew on Barney Gerber’s No. 3 truck coming into the final lap of the race.

According to results released Wednesday by CRS, lap leaders were Mike Brooks in the No. 00 and Brandon Huff in the No. 21.

Huff, who won the race, also set the series track record at 27.44 seconds. Rusty Wallace holds the all-time track lap record at 23.167 seconds, set in 2000.
