ROCKINGHAM — The tempo was upbeat at the close of Wednesday’s practice as the sun began to set behind the pine trees at Richmond Senior High School.

Thanksgiving football, something that’s been amiss for five years, returns to Richmond County this week.

The Raider football program held its final full day of practice ahead of Friday’s showdown with Rolesville High School in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A East playoffs.

Head coach Brad Denson and the Raiders have “another chance” to continue proving other teams and coaches wrong when the Rams visit Raider Stadium on Black Friday.

Richmond will hold a Thanksgiving Day practice Thursday morning for its final walkthrough.  The team will go through its normal game day lifting schedule and pregame routine Friday despite not being in school.

Action between No. 4 Richmond (10-2) and No. 5 Rolesville (11-1) is set to get underway Friday at 7:30 p.m.
