HAMLET — The Hamlet American Legion junior baseball team opened its season Wednesday.
Hosting Randolph Post 45 Gray, Hamlet suffered a 19-4 loss in three innings after a long rain delay.
Drew Gause had an RBI single and Noah Stubbs drove in the final run on an RBI groundout.
Post 49 used three pitchers during the game, all of whom pitched one inning — Conner Phifer, Michael Osentowski and Stubbs.

The Hamlet juniors (0-1) will host Davidson County Post 8 Thursday at 5 p.m.
