FAYETTEVILLE — Lightning disrupted Monday’s American Legion baseball game.

Hamlet Post 49 traveled to Terry Sanford High School and started its first of two regular-season meetings against Hope Mills Post 32 this week.

Although no rain fell, the game was delayed in the top of the sixth inning and officially postponed after the initial 30-minute lightning delay.

Hamlet was leading 8-6 with one out and the bases loaded.

Head coach Chip Gordon said a decision will be made on Tuesday on whether or not the game will be finalized or resumed.

Hamlet (8-6, 4-1 Area 2) will host non-conference Matthews Post 235 on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Richmond Observer will publish a game story when available. Below are photos of Monday’s game taken by sports editor Kyle Pillar.
