PHOTOS: Hamlet Post 49 at Liberty Post 91

RAMSEUR — A five-run second inning by the Hamlet American Legion baseball team was enough to get the job done Friday.

Beginning its summer campaign on the road, Post 49 defeated Liberty Post 91 7-4.

After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, Hamlet scored five runs in the second and two more runs in the sixth.

Jason Walker (Richmond) earned the win, throwing four innings. He struck out three batters and gave up three hits and three runs (one earned).

Riley Brown (Richmond) struck out four batters and allowed an unearned run in two innings of relief. Closing the door by striking out the side in the seventh and leaving the bases loaded for the save was Dylan Tilson (Scotland).

Maddox Locklear (Scotland) had two singles and two runs batted in, with Evan Hodges (Richmond) also driving in a pair of runs.

Post 49 (1-0) will travel to Chatham Post 182 Wednesday for a non-conference meeting. It will be played at Jordan Matthews High School and begin at 7 p.m.
