HAMLET — The City of Hamlet pulled out all the stops for the American Legion Post 49 baseball team’s home opener on Monday.

The program’s patriotic roots were on full display as the 49ers completed a comeback win to defeat Horry County Post 111 by a final score of 12-6.

Leaders from around the county, including several mayors and elected officials were on hand for a pre-game ceremony.

Hamlet erased a 4-0 deficit with a five-run bottom of the third inning. Hamlet and Horry County traded home runs in the middle frames courtesy of Hunter Huneycutt and TJ Anderson.

An RBI single from Tristan Hunt in the fifth inning made it a 7-6 lead, which proved to be the game-winning run.
