FAIRMONT — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team lost its season opener by a single point Monday.

On the road at Fairmont High School, the JV Raiders fell 44-43.

Leading the team in scoring were sophomores Elijah Peterkin (14), Adrion Pore (11) and Eric Legrand (8).

Richmond tied the game at 40 and 42 points late in the fourth quarter thanks to a pair of baskets from Peterkin. But missed free throws down the stretch by the team cost the JV Raiders.
