PHOTOS: JV Raiders vs. Southern Lee, Week 5

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity football team notched its second straight shutout with a win over Southern Lee on Thursday.

Handing the JV Cavaliers a 43-0 loss, the JV Raiders scored four times on the ground and twice through the air. The defense also recorded a safety.

Sophomore running back Javion Smith scored two rushing touchdowns, while sophomore tailback Joseph Patterson and freshman rusher Lazarius Graham each had one touchdown.

Freshman quarterback Evan Hodges started the game and threw a touchdown pass to fellow freshman Domonic Tillman. Later in the game, sophomore backup quarterback Dillon Veach also found Tillman for a passing score.

The JV Raiders’ defense held the JV Cavs to just 43 yards of total offense and stopped the running game, limiting Southern Lee to -26 rushing yards.

Freshman Jadarian Wallace registered a sack in the end zone in the third quarter, resulting in two more points for Richmond.

Improving to 2-2 on the season, and 1-0 in Sandhills Athletic Conference play, the JV Raiders will host Pinecrest  on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
