PHOTOS: Lady Raiders at Panther Creek

CARY — Never giving up, the Richmond Senior High School girls’ basketball team suffered a loss to another ranked opponent on Friday.

Continuing a gauntlet of non-conference games to begin the new season, the Lady Raiders lost 66-43 to Panther Creek High School.

The Lady Catamounts (2-0) are the defending NCHSAA 4A state champions and are currently ranked as the No. 2 team in the state.

Junior point guard Jamyia Lindsey (NC A&T State) dropped a season-high 27 points for Richmond. She added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Leading scorers for Panther Creek were Taylor Barner (29 points, Memphis) and Olivia Tucker (27 points, Campbell).

Senior MaKailah Jackson and freshman Madisen Jackson each contributed four points in the game. MaKailah Jackson led the team with six rebounds and Madisen Jackson pulled in five.

The Lady Raiders (2-3) open Sandhills Athletic Conference play at home against Pinecrest High School (0-4) on Tuesday. Action will start at 6 p.m.
