ROCKINGHAM — Holding their opponent scoreless in the second quarter Tuesday, the Lady Raiders rolled to a season-opening win.
Hosting non-conference Panther Creek High School, Richmond earned a 56-31 victory, which was also the first for interim head coach Taneika Reader.
Trailing by a point to start the second quarter, the Lady Raiders went on a 17-0 run to take the lead for good. At halftime, Richmond was up 33-17.
Senior point guard Jamyia Lindsey netted a game-high 23 points, while junior guard Jasiah Gilchrist reached double figures with 10 points.
A total of seven players found the basket for Richmond in the win, featuring eight points from sophomore Madisen Jackson.

Richmond (1-0) will play a non-conference home game Saturday against New Hanover High School. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
