ROCKINGHAM — Friday night was all about celebration for the Lady Raider basketball team, which completed a perfect run through conference play this season.
No. 1 Richmond capped a 14-0 record against Sandhills Athletic Conference opponents, winning the SAC tournament championship 60-49 over No. 2 Scotland High School.
Making the title game for the second time in three seasons, it was the first time in head coach Teddy Moseley’s six seasons the Lady Raiders won the tournament.
Junior point guard Jamyia Lindsey netted 27 points, with sophomore guard Jasiah Gilchrist adding 15 points.
Freshman forward Madisen Jackson scored seven points to go with her team-high seven rebounds.

The Lady Raiders (22-4) finished the regular season with the fifth-best RPI in the 4A East. The NCHSAA will release its final playoff brackets later Saturday.
