PHOTOS: No. 2 Raiders vs. No. 7 Cardinal Gibbons, Round 3

ROCKINGHAM — A battle-tested Richmond Raider basketball team used its experience in the postseason to advance in the 4A East state playoffs Tuesday.

No. 2 Richmond sent No. 7 Cardinal Gibbons High School packing, earning an 88-68 win.

With the win, the Raiders secured their third straight trip back to the Elite 8 round.

Paul McNeil Jr. had a double-double with a game-high 31 points and 11 rebounds. Seniors Javian Drake (20 points) and Jamarion Wall (13 points) added to the stat sheet, and junior Ahaiver McDonald scored 12 points off the bench.

Richmond led by four points at the half before breaking the game open with a 28-11 run in the third quarter.

The No. 2 Raiders (24-5) will get one more home game in the postseason Friday. They’ll host No. 3 Green Level High School (29-1) at 7 p.m.
