PEMBROKE — The Richmond Raider baseball team made a first-round exit in the NCHSAA 4A East state playoffs Tuesday.

A couple of hiccups in the bottom of the second inning led to a 7-1 loss at No. 9 Purnell Swett High School.

The No. 24 Raiders scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning when senior Isaac Hinshaw recorded a run batted in on a sacrifice fly to center.

Junior Jabari Douglas, who became Richmond’s first base runner with a walk, scored from third.

Senior James Eason started on the mound and threw 1.2 innings. Junior Jason Walker faced 15 batters, retiring his final 13 batters in order without allowing a base runner. He also had six strikeouts.
